101 The Three-Day Revelation: Lessons from Jonah and Christ
How Alignment with Divine Purpose Affects Our Daily Lives
Good morning Substack friends,
A thing that I’ve suspected but until today was not confirmed, it is this;
When we act, speak and behave in manners consistent with God’s will for us, things are more likely to go smoothly. This is not to suggest things won’t go wrong, but I suggest God is with us along the way and will show us the way as we maneuver through and around any obstacles that should arise.
Conversely, when we are being (especially) disobedient to the will of our Father, things go wrong, obstacles arise, doors close, stress and anxiety are rampant. We might be able to move the agenda forward, but it will be painful and we will break other things all along the way as we move our personal agenda forward.
This is a suspicion that the Holy Spirit has been helping me to understand clearly these last three days.
Jonah spent three days in the belly of the beast before he acquiesced to God’s will. Coincidental? Yeah right.
Is it also coincidental that it took three days for this revelation and the confirmation to be made clear to me? Yeah right.
Is there a connection between these three day experiences and the three days between the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ Jesus?
Where was Jesus during those three days leading up to his resurrection?
Was it a dark place? was it in the deep?
There are some hints to the answers for these questions in the below 9 minute video.
Check it out!
I have confessed and repented to the Lord for my disobedience. For the next three days I will wait on the Lord.
Why am I disappointed at myself about this whole episode?
It is rare some times that the Lord presents us with opportunities to demonstrate our obedience and trust in Him. The more spiritual growth we experience the more convicting these sorts of moments become in our hearts and lives. I have failed this trial and I pray the Lord gives me the faith, conviction, courage and strength to obey future commands without hesitation and with a joyful heart.
Furthermore
I don’t mean to suggest that whenever something is going wrong in our lives that it’s because we are not moving in harmony with God’s will.
We can encounter challenges and roadblocks simply because it is part of the path the Lord needs or wants for us. Roadblocks, obstacles, trials and tribulations are opportunities used by the Lord to aide in our transformation.
God is often creative in the ways he chooses to participate in our transformation. Creative in the sense that, He doesn’t accomplish His will to ends in a cookie cutter way. The manner in which He chooses for my transformation will be different from the one He has set for you or any other of His children.
It’s not His aim to have a body of followers whom are all clones and identical to one another. Our God is a creator above all else. As a Creator, speculation on my part, but I suspect He doesn’t like to accomplish or do the same thing twice. He wants to express His love, sovereignty, grace, mercy, patience and all the other attributes that represent Him, He wants to express them differently.
The ability to discern whether times are hard because you are being disobedient and out of alignment with His will or if it’s because of a transformation process He wishes to walk through with us is one of daily prayer points. It requires that we are familiar with the sound of the voice of our shepherd.
Do you know the sounds of the voice of your Lord and Savior?
Can you discern misalignment and disobedience from a path of transformation specifically laid out for you by God?
